NEUTYPE · Editorial note

ADHD. We call it Neutype.

Neutype · English edition

Neutype starts with ADHD. Our editorial stance is to see ADHD as a different way of being, not only as a disability to compensate for. How attention moves, where interest leads, how thoughts connect: these are the ways of feeling and thinking we call Neutype.

Difficulties do not explain the whole person

When ADHD is described only as a set of deficits to correct, a person's tastes, ideas, relationships, and everyday life can recede from view. We want to make room for people to describe their own experiences.

We do not erase difficulties or turn every trait into a strength. We want to include the experiences that call for support, the sensations people enjoy, and the moments they have struggled to explain. People who share the ADHD label can still have different experiences.

Starting with lived experience

We are interested in what someone notices and feels, and how they live. What draws them to a piece of work? What comes across in a relationship, and what gets misunderstood? Which environments feel comfortable, and which feel difficult? We want to listen without fitting the person to a predetermined type.

Work, relationships, culture, technology

These are our subjects. Our starting point is the Neutype perspective on ADHD. We want to explore the experience of music and games, a person's creative practice, relationships at work, and the tools that enter everyday life through that perspective.

Becoming more efficient will not be our only subject. Work and rest, enjoyment and difficulty all belong to a person's life.

Why the name Neutype

The name expresses an editorial perspective on people. It does not replace a person's diagnosis or determine their need for support.

We plan to publish first-person writing, interviews, observation, and criticism. We will distinguish personal experience, interpretation, and research findings, and provide sources for quotations and research.

Instagram will carry scenes from the magazine; the website and newsletter will give the stories more room. This is our opening editorial note, setting out where we begin.
